Position Summary:

Works under the direction of the  Assistant Store Manager to carry out all retail operations in the store, including, but not limited to, creating a Christ-centered environment, register operations, customer service, store appearance and displays, and employee interactions.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.

  1. Possess a sincere love of Christ and maintain a Christian walk that is evident of that love. Individual must be willing to sign and adhere to the WM Statement of Faith.
  2. Assist the Store Management team in register transactions including the handling of cash and credit card payments, non-cash purchases, voids and refunds, in order to ensure the accuracy and security of all transactions.
  3. Maintain and clean out fitting rooms on a regular basis
  4. Assist store staff, in stocking store shelves and clothing racks, in order to provide customers with maximum shopping opportunities.
  5. Communicate, daily, all events related to customer service issues or problems, register mistakes, employee issues or accidents, and general store operations to the manager, in order to ensure all issues are handled properly and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  6. Work with store staff, in maintaining the physical appearance of the store, including, but not limited to: removing safety hazards, picking up store merchandise and restoring to proper place, cleaning parking lot, sidewalks, windows and doors, store floors, restrooms and other public areas, to ensure the safety and health of customers and employees.
  7. Under the direction of the Store Management team, assist store staff, as needed, to set up or change store displays in order to provide a pleasant shopping environment and to entice customers to shop new areas or items within the store.

 

Essential Requirements:

  1. Must possess the ability to accurately count cash receipts and create and maintain accurate records of daily sales and bank deposits.
  2. Must be able to direct retail and donation center staff and provide direction and delegate assignments.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized store.
  4. Leads the staff to successfully neutralize negative customer interactions.
  5. Responsible for continually merchandising the thrift store with new products and remove old product according to the weekly “pull” schedule.
  6. Must be able to research the value of donated items and assign appropriate retail sales value.
  7. Monitors and thrift store telephone system, answers and returns missed calls in a timely manner.

 

Work Environment:

Retail work environment to include staff meetings and engaging with customers.

 

Physical Demands:

 

Standing, walking, receiving donation, hang clothing, lifting product, and pushing/pulling shopping carts. Mostly indoors in the store and in donation center.

Background Investigation and Drug Testing:

  1. After a “conditional offer of employment” is made, the individual must pass a background investigation which includes a consumer credit investigative report.
  2. Wheeler Mission Ministries has a mandatory drug testing policy for all new employees. The successful applicant must submit to and pass a drug and/or alcohol test. This drug and/or alcohol testing may occur any time after the applicant receives a conditional offer of employment. All employees must sign and adhere to WM Drugs and Alcohol policy and remain free from addiction to drugs or alcohol.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Be a member of a team, by being an example of “revealing Christ” to all staff, donors, and customers.

 

Expected Hours of Work:

Full time Monday – Saturday and maximum of 40 hours per week.

 

Travel:

Does not require travel.
